¡Viva la Pepa! offers educational programs for elementary, middle and
high schools, that give children the opportunity to listen to medieval, renaissance
and traditional music from Spain and France.
¡Viva la Pepa!’s educational programs are interactive, so children
are encouraged to participate and discover how some “very strange” instruments
work. Children have the opportunity to see and hear unusual musical instruments,
some of which originate in the middle ages, such us the hurdy-gurdy, psaltery,
bagpipe, tromba marina, etc. More modern instruments, like the guitar and accordion
make for irresistible fun in ¡Viva la Pepa!’s shows.
Our educational programs run for 45 minutes, taking children on a musical tour
of 13th century Cantigas to contemporary village celebration music from Spain
and France, to Sephardic oral traditional songs.
